Masterclass AI dalam Pengajian Al-Quran: What Participants Built in Two Weekends

Alhamdulillah, Masterclass AI dalam Pengajian Al-Quran has concluded.

Over two weekends, we saw something genuinely encouraging: AI was not used merely to look up answers. It became a tool that made the process of learning the Qur'an more creative, more structured, and more effective.

What Participants Learned to Build

Every participant left with work they had produced themselves — not demonstrations they watched, but outputs they made:

• ✨ Qur'anic infographics that are easy to understand at a glance
• 🎨 Educational comics built around Qur'anic study, aimed at younger learners
• 🖼️ Visuals and illustrations that support the process of tadabbur
• 📝 Interactive quizzes for both learning and teaching
• 💻 Simple web applications that support Qur'anic learning

The platforms covered included Gemini Notebook for turning source material into structured learning assets, Gemini Canvas for building small interactive apps such as the "Jom Tajwid!" quiz, and QuizCanvas Builder for automating quiz generation directly from notebook exports.

Why This Matters

Each output proved a simple point: technology can be a wasilah — a means — of bringing people closer to the Qur'an, when it is used with proper guidance.

A well-made infographic can hold a child's attention long enough for a verse to settle. A quiz can turn passive Tajweed revision into active recall. A comic can carry an adab lesson into a home where a lecture would not reach.

None of these replace the teacher. They extend the teacher's reach.

Work Made by the Participants Themselves

Everything below was generated by the participants during the sessions — not by us, and not prepared in advance. We were genuinely impressed by how much they benefited in such a short time, and by the care they put into making the Qur'an easier to approach for others.

The Risks Were Taught Too

A responsible masterclass does not only teach capability. It teaches limits.

Participants worked through the main risks of using AI in religious study:

• Hallucination — confident output that is simply invented
• False sources — citations that do not exist or do not say what is claimed
• Misquotation — verses and hadith reproduced inaccurately or out of context
• Popularity bias — the most common opinion presented as the only opinion
• Privacy and rights — data and copyright considerations

As shared during the session: "Bahaya utama bukan apabila AI tidak tahu. Bahaya berlaku apabila AI tidak tahu, tetapi tetap memberikan jawapan yang kedengaran yakin."

The rule we keep returning to is straightforward: AI drafts, the teacher verifies. Nothing produced by a model should reach a learner without passing through someone qualified to check it against the sources.
