QLME 3.0 Batch 23 Begins: From Reading the Qur’an to Understanding Its Language
Alhamdulillah, QLME 3.0 Batch 23 has officially begun at AtTartil Quranic Institute.
The first session welcomed a full house of learners, with participants joining both physically and online. It was encouraging to see so many people dedicate their time to learning the Qur’an and taking another step in their journey with the Book of Allah.
For us, however, the number of participants is not the most important part.
What brings us greater joy is seeing learners make a sincere decision to go deeper. They already read the words of the Qur’an. Now, they want to understand its language, recognise its structure, and develop a closer relationship with its message.
That decision marks the beginning of a long but meaningful journey.
From Reading the Qur’an to Understanding Its Language
Every interaction with the Qur’an has value. Reading its verses is an act of worship, and learning to recite correctly remains an important foundation.
There is also another stage that many learners wish to reach: understanding what they are reading.
Allah tells us in Surah Yusuf (12:2):
“Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur’an so that you may understand.”
The Qur’an was revealed in Arabic. Learning its language can therefore help a student recognise meanings and connections that may not always be clear through translation alone.
A learner may begin to recognise repeated words. They may understand how a sentence is formed. They may notice why a particular word appears in a verse. Over time, verses that were once understood mainly through translation can become more familiar in their original Arabic.
This is part of the learning journey that QLME supports.

Taking the First Step to Learn Is Already Meaningful
Learning Qur’anic Arabic can feel difficult at the beginning.
Students encounter unfamiliar vocabulary, sentence structures, grammar, and concepts. Some may have studied Arabic before, while others may be starting with limited knowledge.
What matters is the willingness to begin and continue.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“Whoever follows a path in pursuit of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise.”
This hadith, recorded in Sahih Muslim, gives learners a powerful reason to continue seeking beneficial knowledge.
The journey itself has value.
Every lesson attended, every new word understood, every question asked, and every attempt to understand a verse represents another step in seeking knowledge.
Students do not need to understand everything immediately. They need to keep learning.
Istiqamah Matters More Than Moving Quickly
Starting a course requires motivation. Continuing for months and years requires istiqamah.
QLME is not a short learning experience. The programme consists of around 20 modules, with five sessions in each module, which means the full learning journey can take more than two years.
This requires commitment.
There may be weeks when students feel motivated and lessons feel easy. There may also be periods when work, family responsibilities, or other commitments make learning harder.
This is where consistency becomes important.
The Prophet ﷺ taught that:
“The most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are most consistent, even if they are small.”
This principle, reported in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, applies beautifully to the journey of learning.
A student does not need to master the language of the Qur’an overnight. Regular attendance, revision, practice, and sincere effort can build knowledge gradually.
One lesson becomes five.
Five sessions become one module.
One module becomes another.
Over time, the learner begins to see the Qur’an differently.
We Appreciate Every Student Who Continues to Learn
At AtTartil QI, we deeply appreciate the commitment shown by our students.
Many are adults with work, family, and personal responsibilities. Yet they continue to make time for Qur’anic learning.
Some travel to attend physical classes. Others join online. Some revise between lessons. Others may need more time before a concept becomes clear.
Each journey is different.
What matters is that they continue.
We pray that this istiqamah becomes a source of barakah in their lives and that every hour spent learning brings them closer to Allah.
Learning With the Intention to Understand and Apply
Learning the language of the Qur’an should eventually lead us back to the message of the Qur’an itself.
Allah says in Surah Sad (38:29):
“This is a blessed Book which We have revealed to you so that they may reflect upon its verses, and so that people of understanding may be mindful.”
Understanding vocabulary and language gives learners another tool for reflection. It can help them slow down when reading, recognise meanings, and think more carefully about what Allah is communicating through His words.
Knowledge should then influence action.
The aim is not simply to know more Arabic terms. The greater aim is to understand the Qur’an better and allow its guidance to shape our lives.
May This Be the Beginning of a Lifelong Qur’anic Journey
As QLME 3.0 Batch 23 begins, we pray that the enthusiasm seen in the first session continues throughout the journey ahead.
A full classroom is beautiful to see. A full online session is encouraging. But the greater success will be seeing these same learners continue, lesson after lesson, module after module, with sincerity and istiqamah.
To every Batch 23 student: thank you for taking this step.
Continue learning even when progress feels slow. Continue asking questions. Continue revising. Continue opening the Qur’an with the intention to understand.
Allah teaches us a simple and powerful doa in Surah Taha (20:114):
“My Lord, increase me in knowledge.”
May Allah increase our students in beneficial knowledge, ease their understanding of the language of His Book, strengthen their istiqamah, and allow what they learn to transform how they read, understand, and live by the Qur’an.
This is the journey we hope to build at AtTartil Quranic Institute:
Where Qur’anic Knowledge Transforms Lives. 💚
